Noah
Noah walked faithfully with God, and his obedience became a means of preserving his family when judgment came upon the earth.
Genesis 6:9, 17-18; Hebrews 11:7
Leaders influence people. So we pray for leaders.
“We pray. God leads. Leaders lead better. People flourish.”
Leaders influence families, organizations, communities, nations, and generations. PrayerLeads is a movement of believers committed to intentionally praying for leaders in every sphere of society.
Why do we pray for leaders?
We believe leaders matter.
The decisions, character, priorities, and actions of one leader can influence the lives of many people. Leadership carries consequences far beyond the person who holds the position.
We see this throughout Scripture.
“Everything rises and falls on leadership.”
— Dr. John Maxwell
Noah walked faithfully with God, and his obedience became a means of preserving his family when judgment came upon the earth.
Genesis 6:9, 17-18; Hebrews 11:7
Adam's disobedience brought sin and death into the world, affecting generations beyond himself.
Genesis 3; Romans 5:12, 18-19
Saul's jealousy and hatred toward David led to destructive decisions that affected not only David but soldiers, families, and an entire nation.
1 Samuel 18:6-11; 22:17-19
David's sin involving Bathsheba and Uriah resulted in the death of Uriah and other soldiers.
2 Samuel 11:14-17
David's census brought devastating consequences upon the people he led.
2 Samuel 24:1-17
Herod's desire to destroy Jesus resulted in the killing of children throughout Bethlehem and its surrounding region.
Matthew 2:1-18
And Moses' obedience to God's call became part of the deliverance of an entire nation from Egypt.
Exodus 3:7-10; 14:13-31
These examples remind us that leadership matters—and therefore, praying for leaders matters.
So what should we do?
“I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”
— 1 Timothy 2:1-2
“The king's heart is in the hand of the LORD, as the rivers of water: he turneth it whithersoever he will.”
— Proverbs 21:1

Leaders shape society across every domain. We pray for those who lead in each sphere.
Our intercession covers the full range of what leaders need—from salvation and wisdom to integrity and the wellbeing of those they serve.
